I found the book a fabulous read and very insightful. Mitch has lived 5 lives in the span of 50 short years. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes an honest, personable look of someone's life as well as someone looking to learn about real estate.

I have purchased 8 copies of this book for my family and friends who are scattered over 5 states. Mitch writes short, concise chapters with an engaging style. They are easy to read and you feel like you have learned a valuable lesson from each one.
Two overarching lessons thread from the first to the last chapter: You can succeed in America; All success results from a foundation of persistence and hard work.
Mitch Stephen's book has the same message my mother hung where all her teenage children could see it: GENIUS IS BUT PERSEVERANCE IN DISGUISE.
In closing I offer my opinion that you will not be disappointed in this book unless you believe it to be a get-rich-quick scheme.

This book was for me like looking in the mirror. The American dream is elusive. Few people are able to achieve financial independence, not due to lack of effort or desire, in most cases it is due to a lack of knowledge. This great country offers available wealth to anyone who knows how to build a portfolio of real estate. It is not a get rich overnight process, it is however a build lasting wealth program.
Mitch Stephens has reflected his real life story of his personal struggle to succeed. One day he paid attention to those who had the correct answers to the questions he was searching for. He took the first step in the direction of risk and gain in real estate and to this day has never regretted his decision. He is now financially independent and looking to help others follow his steps.
It seems to be human nature, if you have something good, you want to share it. Mitch is here to share his knowledge, only a fool would turn him down.
This book is a must read for anyone who is looking to achieve financial freedom. It is a fresh take of on reality and a story told from the heart. This book has inspired me to take the steps I should of taken many years ago. Mitch took the correct path and now, thanks to his book, it is time for me to follow his steps.

Mitch Stephen lives from his heart, writes from his heart, and encourages others to do the same. That's what love is....being true to yourself, being excellent at what you do, and showing others the way.

I never expected a real estate "how to" to really be a life "how to". I won this book as a door prize. I was stuck in the doctor's office and went out and got it out of the trunk and started to read, thinking it would be more interesting than a 3 year old People Magazine. I couldn't put it down! I am in the same business as Mitch and in the same town, and he is known to be very good at what he does. I never expected all of this out of the quiet guy that usually sits in the back.
His story touched me. Life is full of ups and downs, and all of these can get us off track on our business plan. Mitch shows us his personal and family struggles, and honestly points us toward the reality that life keeps getting crazier....so don't wait to get started in the business....and hang in there, through it all. Almost everything is temporary....and we probably can't control the things that are permanent.
Half of something is better than nothing. That sounds so easy, but in this business, it isn't. He shows us how his own brand of crazy thinking has made him a fortune. He does NOT color within the lines. He doesn't do things any way but his own. And it works, very well. So, I am re-framing my perspective. Mitch can work himself into the right side of the money on a deal better than anyone I know of. Here, he shows us how he does it.
Life lessons and business lessons are given in a very personal way through both word and music. Hope for hard times is thrown in for free. And I was reminded that this is a people oriented business above all, and that I need to serve mankind better. This business will reward me as a result of my service.
I was amazed by Mitch's honesty.

Mitch, our main character, is unassuming, honest, humble and hilarious as he bumbles through various adventures. He thinks on his feet, works hard, and slowly builds a fortune from nothing. A classic tale of an education in the school of hard knocks. Mitch lays each situation out in plain language that will make you either laugh or cry, but certainly will make you want to keep reading. Great book.

I found My Life & 1,000 Houses to be a not only informative, but heartwarming and entertaining read. Reading about Mitch's struggles that he overcame with strength and determination is an inspiration to anyone who may be caught at the bottom of this tough economy and at the point of giving up completely. It will motivate you to never give up no matter how big or small your problems are. I would highly recommend this book to everyone, not just Real Estate Investors. Go out and get this book now. You won't regret it.

I read this book through the night and the next day...couldn't put it down. Very inspiring book laid out nicely, easy flow, realistic experiences that bring chuckles, full blown out loud laughs, and rolling on the floor hilarious incidents that make you think about your own life and living, endurance and determination, rewards and pitfalls. It's not a real estate how to book. It's not all about investments, either. It's one man's determination to make use of a tool God gave us. HIS MIND. It really made me stop and think about the things I'm not utilizing to fullest potential. There are thinkers and doers. Every day I sit and think about something is a day I didn't DO. This man, Mitch Stephen, filled his head with knowledge while struggling to get past some financial hurdles. We can stay at what seems like a dead end road or we can look for a different path. We each define success in different ways. The book tells me Mitch Stephen chose the high road. Thanks Mitch for the insight. Best of Wishes. KMC

I am 23 years old and started investing in real estate full time about 1 year ago. This book is very inspirational because the author talks about the challenges he had to overcome to become a success. This book is perfect for that person who thinks "what am I going to do with my life, I have no education and I cant' have a job forever". Society tells you that you have to have an education to be successful. The author and this book are living proof that this concept is not always true! The author did not receive a college degree but yet he overcame all odds and made a success out of himself. This book motivates me, and as for myself I chose not to finish school as well. I love that I can read a story from someone who is indirectly telling me that I can make it; I can be successful without the traditional form of education (college). It turns out that the book brings positive energy to myself or anyone else is the same situation versus the negative energy of society telling you, you CAN'T be successful with out a degree. This book gives people a chance to relate and feel empowered regardless of any piece of paper you receive from any school. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who needs some direction and inspiration. My Life & 1000 Houses is a very good book that will leave an impression!

MY LIFE & 1,000 HOUSES through social media methods. In order to do a great job for him and the book, I felt it necessary to actually read the book first so I would have a complete understanding of what the book was about and what his audience should expect from this book.None the less, I began my work and started reading. Much to my surprise, I read the entire book in just 2 days. It's that kind of book. This book has reached me in many ways and it is my pleasure to recommend his work whether through social media or otherwise. This book is not what you think it's about when you read the title. I've suggested Mitch change the title but he has come so far it's a hard decision to change in the middle of the stream. I strongly suggest checking it out!

You will find "MY LIFE & 1,000 HOUSES" on my book shelf right beside two all time classics; Napoleon Hill's "Think & Grow Rich" and Maxwell Maltz' "Psycho Cybernetics. It makes perfect sense to put these three books on a shelf together. MY LIFE & 1,000 HOUSES is what life looks like when you put "Think & Grow Rich" and "Psycho Cybernetics into action. You can see it plain as day! The author tells you he has studied Hill and Maltz (and others) and what he's learned from those books. Then, you get to see him put those exact theories into action - in real life situations. You get to see the relationship between the theory and Action. You get to experience when it works, but, the very best part is... you get to see what happens when it doesn't work and how he adjusts things to get the outcome desired. You can't help but "connect" when you read it. You'd have to be brain dead not to "click" or to have that "A-haa moment. "MY LIFE & 1,000 HOUSES" confirms what you've always suspected; there is no cookie cutter solution! There is no miracle cure for your lack of success. Everyone is always trying to sell you the one stop solution and you know in your heart there is not a "one stop solution." This book brings forward the consolation; there is an art to problem solving. There is an art to molding your mind towards success and away from failure. I strongly suspect It depicts how many non-college gradates become such great entrepreneurs. This book makes all this very uncomplicated. The part I found mot interested and still amazes me is that it is a joy to read. I cannot imagine any person who is trying to improve themselves not being moved by this book!

Not the kind of book I would normally buy for myself. I came across the book by chance and feel fortunate that it showed up in my life. It was a GREAT read and left me feeling extremely inspired. The book really amazed me because the title had me thinking it was simply about real estate, but come to find out it is about personal aspirations and overcoming the obstacles of life to create success. While I learned a lot about real estate in this book, more importantly it reinforced some life lessons I'd been taking for granted. I highly recommend this book!
